2449 Imminent Crisis!
If she came on too strongly, there was a higher possibility of leading to negative consequences.
Tower Canon had been able to maintain the peace all this time because many matters were swept under the carpet and never addressed. Once they were brought up, it would lead to irreconcilable conflict within the faction.
If someone else besides Seventh Page War had posed the question, they would not have done so in such a straightforward manner.
But now that that Seventh Page War had already spoken, they had to side with her.
With things as they were, they could take the opportunity to learn everything that they wanted to know!
Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment and Eight Page Apoptosis were both key members of Tower Canon. But Third Page Eternal Sin’s real identity was completely unrelated to Tower Canon.
After all her years as a spy, the more information she found out about Tower Canon, the more confused she became.
This caused Third Page Eternal Sin endless frustration. It could be said that no one wanted to know more about the inner workings of Tower Canon than Third Page Eternal Sin.
Hence, Third Page Eternal Sin decided to dump fuel into the fire.
“I agree with Seventh Page War! Sixth Page Parting Thorn, not only do you have to talk about your own background but First Page Crimson’s background as well! If you don’t explain his origins, we won’t be able to assess your nature. If everything in Tower Canon is such a confusing mystery, I’d rather not be the Third Page!”
Recently, those from her organization had been urging her to return.
The situation in Tower Canon had been getting increasingly perilous. It was so dangerous to the point that she was no longer capable of controlling the situation.
Every tower in Tower Canon had a book. Third Page Eternal Sin had assumed that the books were part of Tower Canon’s legacy.
She had opened the book on the top floor of the Tower of Eternal Sin before First Page Crimson had arrived.
Opening the book required a large amount of soul power, and it would take at least a year for the soul power that had been used up to be replenished.
There was almost no one who would be willing to spend so much soul power just to feed their curiosity.
Third Page Eternal Sin was a spy, and a spy’s most important job was to gather information.
Thus, Third Page Eternal Sin recently went to the top floor of her tower in order to learn more about the book. She wanted to see if she would be able to take the book with her when she left Tower Canon.
But after repeated tests, Third Page Eternal Sin realized that she could no longer open it despite previously being able to.
She was the master of the Tower of Eternal Sin, yet she did not even have control of the book that was meant to be a part of Tower Canon’s legacy. This made Third Page Eternal Sin feel as though she was not the true master of Tower Canon but just a tool.
Third Page Eternal Sin had refused to relent the last time she received an advisory from the members of her organization because she found it humiliating to return empty-handed after all her years of work.
But the current circumstances were filled with too many uncertain variables. She could no longer keep a firm hold on all of them. Thus, she knew that her only way out would be to return to her organization. This was the only way she would be able to ensure her own safety. At the very least, she would end up losing her life!
It was clear that Righteousness was much smarter than her and had voluntarily returned to the organization after realizing in the Radiance Federation that things were not looking up.
Given Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment and Eight Page Apoptosis’s understanding of Third Page Eternal Sin, she should be acting as a mediator now. She was always the first one to compromise. But why was she not doing so now, and was even adding fuel to the fire?
This should not be happening! The situation was currently barreling toward disaster. Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment, who always prioritized his profits, now had to be the one to step in to quell the fire. If the members of Tower Canon fell out now, the deal they had discussed with the Freedom Federation would become null!
Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment had always yearned for the harvests that the Freedom Federation had collected from the marsh world.
A black candle lit up within Sixth Page Parting Thorn’s eyes at the same moment that Third Page Eternal Sin spoke. The purple flames moved in a wild and sinister dance.
Third Page Eternal Sin, Seventh Page War, and Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment had not noticed this, but Sixth Page Parting Thorn and Eight Page Apoptosis had both caught a glimpse.
The two black candles stupefied Eight Page Apoptosis. He could not feel as though he was prey that had entered the sights of a predator and, at any moment, was going to end up losing his life.
Eight Page Apoptosis hastily shifted his gaze away.
But after Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment stepped in as the mediator, the pair of candles in Sixth Page Parting Thorn’s eyes immediately vanished, and his eyes returned to their original light green pupils.
An enraged expression appeared on Sixth Page Parting Thorn’s face again. It was as though he was capable of independent thought again.
Eight Page Apoptosis had previously sensed the energy fluctuations radiated by First Page Crimson.
He had been in charge of managing the fey statues in the garden on the island. After the statues were stripped of their faiths and laws, the faiths and laws were all eventually taken away by Second Page Revival.
First Page Fate had been very obedient to Second Page Revival. Thus, Eight Page Apoptosis had always had the feeling that Second Page Revival was the true decision-maker in Tower Canon.
In order to curry favor with Second Page Revival, Eight Page Apoptosis had used his sacred source lifeform’s ability to create a life monument for her but had yet to tell her about this. Instead, he let her sense it for herself. After all, it would be easier for them to become closer if Second Page Revival realized his contribution on her own rather than him showing it to her.
But unfortunately, Second Page Revival had yet to mention this matter to Eight Page Apoptosis.
Second Page Revival’s life monument should send out a signal after it was erected.
Eight Page Apoptosis could judge the degree of apoptosis within the life monument to see which direction their life was headed toward and use his apoptosis power to remove all the possible bad luck standing in their way.
Second Page Revival’s life was very blurry, and Eight Page Apoptosis felt as though she was closer to a corpse than a living creature. Yet, she was standing there alive, right in front of him.
With her strength, there was no way that she was a puppet that had been given life by an external entity.
Eight Page Apoptosis thought things would blow over now that Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment had stepped in as the mediator. Alas, Seventh Page War and Third Page Eternal Sin refused to let the matter rest.
“Fourth Page Instant Extinguishment, if you don’t want to stand with us, keep your mouth shut! We won’t have to face off as enemies if you remain neutral.”
