Chapter 205: Chapter 205: You’re in Luck
“Who exactly is that ruthless person?”
“What a pity, they didn’t even leave a name.”
“Weird, why didn’t we see their image projection? Could they be from the Ultra-Burn Tribe?”
“The Ximen Swordsman wouldn’t have just died like that, right?”
“This teaches us a lesson: no matter how strong you are, you can’t be reckless. When you meet a real tough one, you’ll still get taken down.”
“I really want to see what that person looks like.”
The spectators discussed heatedly, feeling a chill in their hearts, thinking it’s best to be humble and cautious, not to push others too hard, otherwise, the lesson of the Ximen Swordsman is right before their eyes.
Lin Shen didn’t know what they were thinking. As soon as his time was up, he teleported back with his package.
His countdown was different from that of the Ximen Swordsman. After returning to his room, he glanced out the window and saw that the projection in the sky was still there.
He looked outside carefully, and the exclusive view of the Ximen Swordsman was still pitch black. He wasn’t sure if he was dead or still trapped underneath, gasping for breath.
Lin Shen didn’t bother to check the result. He went back to his room, took a bath, then opened his package and toyed with the Mutant Eggs one by one.
“This is perfect, a hundred percent Base Mutation rate is guaranteed now,” Lin Shen thought joyfully.
He saved the Base Mutation Eggs for later; he would have time to digest them slowly.
Seeing that it was already getting light outside and the time was just about right, Lin Shen first opened several Blue Crystal Eggs and drank their liquid until he couldn’t drink any more, and then he went to the Asura Training Camp with his belly swollen.
The first training item was still the warm-up; Instructor Mu replaced Lin Shen’s backpack with the one specially used at the Crystal Base Level.
Lin Shen didn’t feel anything amiss; this weight was the same as that of He Fang and the others, as it should be.
Running with weights was really exhausting, but it was beneficial for absorbing and digesting the Base Mutation Fluid, which Lin Shen hadn’t expected.
As he was running behind a few senior brothers, he saw a familiar figure entering through the main gate.
“Goddess Consort Bai has arrived,” Lin Shen remarked as he eyed the moving mosaic with some envy.
The senior brothers greeted Goddess Consort Bai, and He Fang even gave Lin Shen a look then leaned in and whispered, “Junior brother, go for it. I’m rooting for you. We don’t want our homegrown cabbage to be snatched by others, especially not by Ouyang Yudu.”
“Senior brother, there’s really nothing going on between Goddess Consort Bai and me,” Lin Shen replied with a mix of laughter and helplessness.
“Nothing now, but if you hook up, there will be,” He Fang winked and made a knowing face.
Unable to clarify, and not feeling like explaining, Lin Shen just kept running with them.
After Goddess Consort Bai arrived, she didn’t join them for the run, but went straight to the office to see Instructor Mu.
She also saw Lin Shen and seemed a bit surprised. Before entering the office, she deliberately turned back to give Lin Shen another look.
“Junior brother, see, Bai is still quite concerned about you. That look in her eyes—there’s a chance,” He Fang deliberately ran alongside Lin Shen and elbowed him teasingly.
Lin Shen couldn’t see what kind of look Goddess Consort Bai had given him, nor did he know what sort of look meant there was a chance.
After Goddess Consort Bai entered the office, she looked at Instructor Mu who was drinking tea and directly asked, “Why is Lin Shen here?”
“He just joined our training camp yesterday, and from now on, he’ll be your junior brother. Get along well,” Instructor Mu said with a smile.
His attitude toward Bai Shenfei was completely different from how he treated the other brothers with serious grievances.
“Instructor, my endurance is still lacking. Please continue to intensify my training,” Bai Shenfei said, not dwelling on Lin Shen’s issue, but directly expressing her thoughts.
Instructor Mu pondered before speaking, “Your endurance is already very strong. I know what you’re thinking, but the kind of endurance Tian has can’t be achieved through mere training. Even if I increase the intensity for you, your improvement in endurance will still be very limited; it’s impossible to reach Tian’s level.”
“Is there really no way left?” Disappointment flashed in Bai Shenfei’s eyes.
“At least not for now. It’s a limitation of Evolution Skill, not a problem that can be resolved by training alone. Let’s do this: I’ll rework your training plan, and you keep at it. It should still bring you some improvement, and then I’ll think of other methods,” said Instructor Mu.
“Okay,” Bai Shenfei nodded slightly.
Lin Shen and the other senior brothers were still running laps. When they saw Bai Shenfei coming out of the office, she did not join them but instead went aside, picked up a strange ball, and, like a gymnast, started rolling the ball over her body.
“Why isn’t she running laps with us?” Lin Shen asked He Fang beside him.
“She’s different from us; running laps is no longer of use to her,” He Fang explained with a chuckle, “In the past, she ran much more than us. Bai is a true martial arts fanatic. Without the Instructor having to watch over her, she trains harder than anyone.”
“Such a talented person, and still so hardworking!” Lin Shen felt somewhat ashamed; he thought he had been quite diligent recently, but compared to Bai Shenfei, he seemed rather lazy.
“Haha, I knew it, the Ximen Swordsman definitely wouldn’t die that easily, and he’s indeed still alive,” Ling Luo suddenly shouted.
Everyone looked up at the sky just in time to see a man, his face smeared with dirt, crawling out from a sand grave. His carapace was scratched all over, and it seemed he had been through quite an ordeal.
After crawling out, the Ximen Swordsman’s Base Mutation Carapace could no longer sustain itself and retracted, leaving him lying on the ground, gasping for air. It seemed he had truly been suffocating.
“Is that the Ximen Swordsman?” Lin Shen noticed that the Ximen Swordsman was quite young, only in his twenties, not particularly handsome, but rather pleasant looking. With well-proportioned features, he had the warm, friendly appearance of the boy next door.
If one only considered his appearance, it would be impossible to associate him with such a sinister mind.
“It’s a pity about that ruthless guy. He gambled with his life, aiming to destroy both himself and the Ximen Swordsman, yet he failed to harm the Ximen Swordsman and instead lost his own life,” Lv Ying sighed.
“To have pushed the Ximen Swordsman to such a state is quite remarkable,” Tian Buku and Tian Bunaon said simultaneously.
They all lamented the loss of that talented individual, unaware that he was right among them.
Lin Shen didn’t say anything. He just followed behind them, listening to them discuss the Ximen Swordsman.
It was then that Lin Shen realized just how formidable the Ximen Swordsman was.
He had killed an Ascender at the Crystal Base Level. With such a feat, the Ximen Swordsman could be considered top among the top, and even Ouyang Yudu would struggle to surpass him.
After all, Ouyang Yudu had no record of slaying an Ascender. “Talent Theory” may claim to allow challenge beyond one’s level, but apart from Bai Zai, no one had achieved such a record.
While Lin Shen was pondering this, he suddenly saw Bai Shenfei put down the ball and walk over to him.
“I have something to tell you,” Bai Shenfei said, walking straight up to Lin Shen.
The other senior brothers immediately started to jeer, and someone even whistled.
“Little Junior Brother, you’ve struck it lucky,” He Fang said, pushing Lin Shen toward Bai Shenfei.
