Chapter 591: Chapter 585: Leaving Umbral
David Jones slowly opened his eyes, a flicker of excitement flashing through them.
The increased efficiency of Dragon-Wielding’s strengthening was of great significance to David Jones.
Not only could he shorten the time needed to strengthen a special Dragon Crystal from the previous half-month to just one week, or even three to four days, but he could also maximize the potential of his Pets during everyday cultivation.
The reason why the Gluttonous Beast had remained at Class III middle-level for so long was precisely because David Jones had a relatively high number of contract Pets.
The daily strengthening of Pets and the upgrading of Dragon Crystals almost completely occupied all of his Dragon Force, so that there was no additional Dragon Force to deal with the drawbacks of the Gluttonous Beast’s Infinite Evolution skill.
Having resolved the scarcity of special Dragon Crystals, a hint of regret appeared on David Jones’s face.
“It’s a pity, I haven’t received the full payment for the Prince’s treatment fee yet,” he said.
David Jones didn’t expect the Prince to renege on his promise, and coupled with the extreme scarcity of the Martial Mushroom, he still had not received the final payment for the five Martial Mushrooms.
If those five pieces of Level VII Epic resources could be exchanged for Dragon-Breath Herbs, he could get at least dozens of them. Without thinking much of it, David Jones felt like he had suffered a huge loss.
However, after glancing at the Flame Dragon Pearl and Frost Dragon Pearl inside the Star Ring, the look of pain on David Jones’s face disappeared in an instant.
With two Overlord Dragon Pearls as his base, David Jones temporarily had no intention of claiming the remaining five Martial Mushrooms.
One must let go to gain; no pain, no gain.
In the Umbral Imperial City where powerful individuals abounded, and Ghost Immortal-level experts were a dime a dozen, he, a mere King-level powerhouse, was not about to step into the bloody and violent Imperial Capital for five Martial Mushrooms, meddling in the power struggle for royal authority and profit with the Sacred Race, lest he vanished into thin air by accident.
Previously with no other options, David Jones had plunged into the muddy waters of the Imperial Capital, making a desperate attempt to find his way home. But now that Cosmos could establish a spatial passage to the Flowery Kingdom, why should he risk his life in a power struggle with the Umbral nobility?
As for resources, David Jones had already studied the Flowery Kingdom’s jade sutra almost thoroughly; it was only the Pet Resources promised by the Prince that he found somewhat hard to let go of.
In the Umbral, where Trainers had become a minor practice, many elixirs that had long since vanished in the Flowery Kingdom were thriving.
Just as David Jones was reminiscing about the wealthy Prince, an incredible voice came from the God Dedicated Hall in the Umbral Imperial Palace.
“Semi-Immortal strength? How could the master possibly be an ultimate powerhouse!”
Looking at the report in his hands, Theodore Lindwood found it hard to maintain his composure!
If it were not for the fact that this information came from two highly esteemed, high-ranking individuals with considerable strength at the top level of Umbral and greatly valued by his imperial sister, Theodore Lindwood would have thought it was someone’s idea of a joke.
The ultimate powerhouse dressed in Nine Dragons Purple Gold Armor, suspected to be a Blood Rainbow garrison leader?
That was a joke; he personally had taken David Jones into the Blood Rainbow Arsenal himself.
To make up for his guilt of having fled alone, leaving his lifesaver behind, he had even given David Jones the Nine Dragons Purple Gold Armor displayed above the Arsenal’s counter, hoping to increase the master’s chances of survival.
“Could it be that the ultimate powerhouse wearing the Nine Dragons Armor chose to murder and rob in the Divine Zone?”
The very thought of this possibility sent a chill across Prince Theodore Lindwood’s face.
Although he had not spent as much time with the master as his sister Lornaa Lindwood had, his impression of the master was very favorable, or else he would not have given all the treasures in the Blood Rainbow Arsenal to David Jones.
If the master had died at the hands of an ultimate powerhouse because of the Nine Dragons Armor, wouldn’t he, the one who inadvertently caused the master’s death, be to blame?
Glancing at the pale-faced Lornaa Lindwood, who then looked at the Heaven Dragon with an ugly expression, explained.
“I apologize, my royal brother is not questioning the information from the two Deities. I have tested David Jones, the Healer, with the Demonic Reflecting Mirror and can confirm his strength is indeed only at King level. That ultimate powerhouse must be someone else,” she said.
“Let’s put that matter aside for the moment. I have already ordered people to recruit that ultimate powerhouse. Heaven Ghost, Heaven Dragon, how do you explain this mission’s failure?” Joan Lindwood’s voice was cold.
Two Heaven-Demon Guards and an army of a hundred thousand were completely annihilated. Such heavy casualties had surpassed the bloodshed she had initiated when she first ascended the throne. Someone must be held accountable.
Without further words, the Heaven Ghost took off her blood-red helmet, revealing a delicate face, and then knelt on the ground alongside the Heaven Ghost.
“Guard the Armor-piercing Gate for fifty years, any objections?” Joan Lindwood raised her head for the first time while attending to official duties.
“Understood!”
In the face of the disdainful eyes of the Heaven Dragon, the Heaven Ghost kowtowed in agreement.
Ignoring the departing figures of the two deities, Joan Lindwood turned her head towards Lornaa Lindwood.
“Tell me everything about David Jones! Remember, everything!”
Lornaa Lindwood was slightly startled; she had never seen the imperial sister take such grave interest before.
Soon, the night deepened and only Joan Lindwood remained seated high on the Dragon Throne in the resplendent God Dedicated Hall.
Her eyes were fixed on the Milky Way, her stunning face bathed in moonlight looking solemn and sacred.
“The ultimate being? The favored of the Dragon God? It’s becoming more interesting! I will find you, David Jones!”
Joan Lindwood murmured softly the name that might accompany her for life or could become part of the dead beneath the imperial throne, her eyes growing brighter.
As a sovereign, Joan Lindwood had enough confidence. As long as she wished, no one in Umbral could escape her grasp.
Unbeknownst to her, David Jones had already planned to leave the unfamiliar Umbral and return to his familiar homeland.
…
David Jones looked up at the multitude of stars when suddenly a lingering voice rang in his ears.
“Are you going to leave?”
At the words, David Jones turned his head toward Rossetti Lindwood, noticing his own reflection in her azure pupils.
“Yes, you’re right, I don’t belong to this nation. I would have to return sooner or later.”
David Jones changed his posture, put away the strengthened Senior Dragon Crystal, and placed his hands on the heads of Gluttonous Beast and Loona respectively, his mighty dragon-wielding power causing both pets to display looks of comfort.
Watching this warm scene, Rainbow couldn’t help but snort coldly.
Trainers contracting pets were the quickest way to increase strength, but even so, Rainbow felt a bit disgruntled by this sight.
It seemed that in David Jones’s heart, the positions of the newer team members had overtaken some of her own.
However, as a qualified pet, she couldn’t question David Jones. Therefore, Rainbow fixed her eyes on Gluttonous Beast, quickened her consumption of Pet Resources, and suddenly threw herself into the Trainer’s arms.
David Jones smiled while catching Rainbow’s substantial impact, musing, “There’s no place like home; you will understand this feeling too, one day.”
Rossetti Lindwood’s gaze remained on David Jones, “Can I come with you? Wherever my teacher is, that’s my homeland!”
Gazing at the young girl before him, whose allure was veiled by black markings, David Jones smiled.
“A teacher for a day is a father for life; I won’t let you leave before you graduate.”
Upon hearing this, Rossetti Lindwood’s furrowed brows finally relaxed, her worries dissipated, revealing a radiant smile.
“Prepare yourself. By noon tomorrow, we shall leave Umbral,” David Jones said softly.
